As you will I hope be aware:
– the Parish Council meets every other month, usually on the second Wednesday of the month, and has its Annual Meeting in May
– the agendas for, and minutes of, these meetings are posted on the village notice board and on the village website (https://settrington.ryedaleconnect.org.uk/)
– anyone may attend these meetings (and speak, with the permission of the council).
However, in addition to the above meetings, the Parish Council is required to host an Annual Parish Meeting.
Parish Meetings are not Parish Council meetings, but are convened by the Parish Council chairman and minuted by the parish clerk; anyone may attend, but only parish electors have the right to speak, vote, and contribute to the agenda.
The Parish Meeting has a general power to discuss parish affairs and pass resolutions thereon – but these will not bind the Parish Council.
At the meeting, the chairman will:
– Briefly review highlights from the Parish Council’s latest year(s) and ongoing activities
– Respond to questions and accept suggestions regarding parish matters
This year’s Parish Meeting will take place at the Village Hall on Monday 13 May, from 6.45 until 7.15 p.m.
If you would like to propose any parish issue to be covered at the meeting, please contact the Parish Clerk on 01944 768276, or by
E-mail: settringtonparishcouncil@gmail.com.
Bruce Skinner – Parish Clerk
pp Nick Bell – Parish Council Chairman
p.s. This Parish Meeting will be followed by the Annual Meeting at 7.15 p.m., which will in turn be followed by the Ordinary, bi-monthly Meeting.
