Interested in the history of our village ?

….then please take a look at the information located under the “Parish Council” heading, this is very much ‘work in progress’ (as is the whole website!), but we hope you enjoy this insight.

I was wondering if any “locals” can help me. I am looking at a baptism in the Settrington PR and after the parent’s names it says “scag.” I think this is the place where they lived, does anyone know what the abbreviation is for please
    Many thanks

      Hello Pam

Firstly apologies for the delay in responding to you – I have been away, and am currently the only Administrator for the Settrington website !

I think the abbreviation will mean “Scagglethorpe” which is the next village to Settrington. Many residents from Scagglethorpe use Settrington Church for baptisms, funerals etc.

Hope this helps, and if you have any more questions, please fire them at me and I will endeavour to find the answers for you !

      Kind Regards
      Anne Harrison (Web Administrator)
